The site creates profiles, searches and maps that help you look for people in your neighborhood. The two parties work out a rental price and the web site takes a cut.
"Because it means you rent your thing six times, you will make more money than if you would have sold it," said Jeff Boudier of Zilok.com.
Every transaction is backed by a contract and includes a deposit. That way, if an item gets broken or stolen, there is a paper trail.
11Alive News checked the web site and found more than 190 items available for rent in metro Atlanta.
